My art and writing are two channels I use to express gratitude for all the goodness in my life.  Being creative requires me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new avenues.  When I write and paint from the heart, everything makes sense.  I am grateful for the opportunity to share my joy with you.

Sunday Soul Prompt

snow heart I recently signed up to receive weekly soul prompts from Heather Schafer, whose Toliveinspired's Blog is full of wonderful ideas for creating an inspired life.  Her soul prompts are gentle nudges toward living mindfully.

This week's prompt is:  What energy am I bringing to the room (situation, relationship) right now?

My husband often accuses me of not listening fully to what he is saying.  I always protest that he is wrong, of course I am listening, but honestly, sometimes he is right.  There are times when I am only sort of listening, for example, when I am reading           bookarticlenewspaper, okay, anything.

Or when I am typing an email.

Or, writing a post for Grace Notes.

...what's that you say, honey?

If I am honest, this is a trait I have had since childhood.  Place a book in my hands and my mind is immediately engrossed and the world around me melts into the background.  My husband is not the only one who becomes frustrated with my inability to be fully present.

This week I am going to work on being more present.  Close the book.  Shut the laptop.  Leave the iPhone in another room.  Turn and look directly at whoever is engaging me in conversation.  As I think about this I realize that it is a matter of being respectful, of showing others that I value they have to say.

That I value them.

What energy are you bringing this week?

A Celebration
