We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it or leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it. ~ John Lennon
Happy New Year, dear friends. I look forward so much to sharing this fresh beginning with you.
I love new beginnings, don't you? A chance to breathe and reflect and learn. A chance to let go of what no longer serves us.
A year ago I participated for the first time in the rite of choosing a word for the year. The lovely Susannah Conway (have you ever visited her site? If you haven't you must, she is a light in the blogosphere) offers a five day series of prompts to help uncover a word to define the new year. Last year my word was bloom and it's power was magical. I finally let go of feelings of inadequacy and began to paint regularly and joyfully. I took the brave step of sharing my work with others and the positive response awed me.
I thought that choosing this year's word would be difficult, but by day three I knew: nurture. As soon as I saw it I thought yes, this is the year to nurture my newfound passion, this second act of my life, to continue saying yes to possibilities.
I am so excited to continue.
What will your word be this year? What will you nurture? I would love to know. I wish each of you a year of blessings and abundance. A year of nurturing. A year of yes.
