My art and writing are two channels I use to express gratitude for all the goodness in my life.  Being creative requires me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new avenues.  When I write and paint from the heart, everything makes sense.  I am grateful for the opportunity to share my joy with you.

I'm a little late to beginning the new year.  Our holiday was extended until last Wednesday when our youngest left for her new job in South Sudan.  Popeye's expression in the picture above reflects how I have been feeling; wistful.  The house is quiet once more, most of the decorations stored away until next year (I always leave the snowmen up until February).  I'm happy to have the house back to normal again but miss the happy chaos that the holidays bring.
The days since Michelle's leaving have been full of completing chores and running errands that had been placed on the back burner while she was home.
{Because when my daughters are home, spending time with them becomes my priority.  I know you agree with me!}
Finally feeling somewhat caught up I pause and think about my goals for the new year...
...to continue making painting a priority and open an Etsy shop by the end of the year.
... to be mindful of nourishing myself, both physically and spiritually.
...to lovingly nurture my relationship with family and friends.
...to read more.  I am participating this year in 2016 book challenge hosted by Modern Mrs. Darcy.  If you enjoy reading as much as I do, you should check out her blog!
...to finally learn how to use my DSLR camera in manual mode.
...to savor each moment of every day, because it seems that the older I become the more quickly time passes...
And you?  Have you set any goals for 2016?  If you have, I would love to hear what they are!
With love and good cheer,
