“Then followed that beautiful season… Summer… Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.”
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Summer is still a few weeks away and the weather this week is (thankfully) unseasonably cool, but my garden is in full bloom. Inspired by Cathy Sly's beautiful website, knee deep in weeds, I thought I would share some of my perennials with you:
Starting at the top right and going clockwise are clematis, climbing hydrangea, dead nettle, my first tomato blossom (yes, I know, not a flower but I'm just so excited about it!), iris, sweet kate, blue campanula, wild rose, and...
...well, I don't remember what the top one is! It loves the shade and the flower never opens. If you know it's name, will you please tell me?
Looking at these pictures it's pretty clear that I favor blue and purple flowers. I really need to mix it up a little! Soon enough there will be tiger lilies joining the iris, and daisies behind the sweet kate.
What are you growing in your garden this Nurturing Thursday?
