today i awoke to find that our world had shifted
and uncertainty had silently, insidiously slipped in.
rain was falling
my husband still gently kissed me goodbye
while our pup curled closer for warmth.
the titmouse and chickadee still gathered at the feeder,
as I brought my freshly brewed tea to my lips and watched.
i said a silent prayer before breakfast
and still planned out my day.
today I awoke to find that our world had shifted
my heart remained open and true.
