My art and writing are two channels I use to express gratitude for all the goodness in my life.  Being creative requires me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new avenues.  When I write and paint from the heart, everything makes sense.  I am grateful for the opportunity to share my joy with you.

You May Have the Universe

You May Have the Universe

"You may have the universe if I may have Italy." – Giuseppe Verdi

View From a Tuscan Window.jpg

We wake each morning to this view out our window, look in wonder at the beauty that surrounds us. If there is a heaven I hope it looks like Tuscany.

“My idea of heaven still is to drive the gravel farm roads of Umbria and Tuscany, very pleasantly lost.” - Frances Mayes

Each day we set out on an adventure. Some days we travel to small towns, other days to cities. We pass endless olive groves and vineyards, each view more beautiful than the one before.

“When you travel you become invisible if you want. I do want. I like to be the observer. What makes these people who they are. Could I feel at home here? —Frances Mayes

For me, the answer is yes.

This is our second visit to Tuscany. This time I find myself trying to capture tiny moments, snapshots of the sights and people that surround us.

“When travelling you have the delectable possibility of not understanding a word of what is said to you. Language becomes simply a musical background for watching bicycles zoom along a canal calling for nothing from you. Even better if you speak the language you catch nuances and make more contact with people.“ -Frances Mayes

We eat. We shop. We drink wine. We dream.

You may have the universe, but I will take Tuscany.
