My art and writing are two channels I use to express gratitude for all the goodness in my life.  Being creative requires me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new avenues.  When I write and paint from the heart, everything makes sense.  I am grateful for the opportunity to share my joy with you.

Hello September

Hello September

And hello, you!

Oh my, has it really been nearly two months since I last posted? Indeed it has. How have you been? I’ve missed you!

During this summer break I toyed with the idea of no longer blogging. I felt as if perhaps it was time to move on. I had begun this blog as a way to ease into my early retirement, an opportunity to share with others and build my own small online community. To my delight, I found that posting filled a creative space in my life and did, indeed, result in my meeting other interesting and creative people whose words delighted and inspired me.

They still do, all these years later, but I found myself wondering; did I have anything more to share?

My creativity has always come in fits and starts; I focus on one artistic medium for a while and, before long, find myself drawn to another. I’m a terrier intrigued by a new scent, a bird seeking warmer climes, a restless wanderer in the world of artistry. I’ve painted in acrylics and watercolors. I’ve taken up knitting and weaving. I’ve embroidered and have done needlepoint. Should I be surprised that I now felt stagnated in my blogging?

Rather than making a rash decision I decided to take the summer off, to give myself space to think it over. Blogging isn’t the only social medium that I stepped away from. I closed my Facebook account and deleted Twitter from my phone. I turned my attention to real-time and moved away from social app distractions and found it was easier than I thought it would be.

But the one thing I missed was this space. And all of you. So today, on what is a beautiful autumn day, I gathered my laptop and came to a local coffeeshop so that I could sit down and write and reconnect.

With you.

It feels good to be back. xo
